  • If the mother's blood type is O.
  • Yes, your child's blood type can be from either of the parents. Though i am not a doctor, usually an O blood type is more common for your child to inherit. Did you know what the mother of the child was?
  • Each person receives an A, B, or O gene from each parent. In this system, the A and B genes are co-dominant and the O gene is recessive. Thus, a person whose genetic type is either AA or AO will have blood type A, those with genetic type BB or BO will have blood type B, and only those genetic type OO will have blood type O. This means that a child with type O blood could have parents with type A, type B, or type O blood (but not with type AB). Conversely, if two parents both have type O blood, all their children will have type O blood. According to this it isn't possible. I got this from this site: http://www.drgreen.com
  • My blood type is A+ & my hsb is O- and my daughter is O+ So, yes.
  • Actually, you are all wrong. Hate to tell ya, but its true. My father is AB- and my mother is 00+, and I am 0-. Its true that my father will pass on either an A or a B, and my mother will pass on an O to me. This should have made me either AO or BO, thus A or B. This is true in 99.9% of cases. BUT there are exceptions to having an AB father/mother! Due to genetic disorders, the father can pass on an A or a B that mutates into a non-expressible gene (defacto O), the child will have no AB blood type, he will be type O. The second reason this can also take place is due to the factor of gene expression. Just because you have the genes doesn't mean that they always activate. There is another gene that tells the body to "trigger the blood type gene". If this gene is mutated and broken, then the child will be type O, even if it's blood type genes are AB or some other combination, just because the type genes won't ever activate and start producing A or B proteins. So in answer to your question, yes a man with AB type blood can be the father of an O child, such as is the case of my father. Further gene testing proved that without a doubt he is in fact my father. But 99.9% of the time this will not be the case.
