Money, almost always boils down to this, if it isn't this, then its usually their spouse or the people they hang around with.

Themselves and their egos. Also, I agree with trouble 315 that expectations cause unhappiness and disappointment. That is the reason that monks do not have any expectations, and why they shun worldly pleasures and comforts. The buddhism way seems to me the best possible belief and doctrine, as they do not worship anything or anyone, but their own true inner selves and worth. They recognize that we are all much more than we realize, and they have discovered meditation is the way to unleash our powers. It was once said that 'There is no path to peace; peace is the path...' and if you really think about it, it is very true.
