  • Just about all Christians agree on three important things (off the top of my head anyway). 1. Jesus was important. 2. The Bible has at least some importance. 3. There is some type of reward for faithfulness. The disagreements usually stem from things like whether you should say "debts" or "trespasses" in the Lord's Prayer and stuff like that. There are some bigger differences between sects, of course, but all Christians are united under those aforementioned conditions.
  • Ah that great Theologian Bart Simpson! I know him well. . I'm sure that he was referring to that well known Christian axiom: . "In essentials unity. In non-essentials liberty. In all things charity." .
  • Abraham almost sacrificed his son Isaac on a Mountain. Moses received the Ten Commandments on a Mountain..Jesus was Crucified on a Mountain. I get it:):)
  • I'm surprised Bart would say something like that. In my opinion 'Christian' and 'unite' should never be used in the same sentence. It makes it all too positive and kumbaya-ish and shit. Ya dig? . Since we're throwing out quotes, in Heavenly Creatures Juliet and Pauline create a Fourth World and Kate Winslet's character says, "It's better than heaven because there are no Christians." I think that line is epic, incredibly clever and symbolizes SO much especially in this day and age. My respect level is high for that movie just because of that one line.
  • But they don't see those similarities and attack each other over trivia. +4
  • Standing from outside, I find the dichotomy of christianity to be amazing. When comparing world religions- every one of them who claim to be christian, is counted as a fellow christian, by christians. Yet strangely enough, every other instance, they're not counted. Are you christian? I'm a catholic. Oh you're not a christian then? And such word play.
  • What exactly did Bart say? As for the statement you make, it certainly seems reasonable.
  • It just shows that religion is something that differing people pick apart to make their own, when in 'actuality' it's all the same. People love personalizing things.
  • Aye.. agreed. The belief there is an ultimate authority that transcends the physical unites them.
  • They're all suppose to love thy neighbor, but they don't.
  • "Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers." 2 Timothy 2:14 - In other words if something doesn't matter don't argue about it.
