People have their little "experiences" when they think they've seen a ghost or some sort of paranormal activity. Often this just turns out to be something ordinary that was mistaken for a spook.

Why do people believe in God when they can't see him? Why do people hope for a cure when they have a terminal illness? Just because we can't see it is not proof that it isn't there. Personally, I believe that we are in a parallel world where those that have come before us dwell. At times with an open mind the two worlds get a glimpse of each other. There are things that we cannot explain but I know that family members, both 2 and 4 footed, have made their presence known. I find that comforting. I would suggest reading "Many Lives, Many Masters" for a very unique experience that changes your whole perspective on life and death.

There is proof that something supernatural is out there. We just dont know what it is yet...Kinda like how mythology was used to explain naturl phenomina

They do because there is. There are those who need answers formed for their demands. If something doesn't comply with logic, then they assume they are correct.

There are those of us who have had an experience that cannot be explained away, in any other way other than what you have seen is the spirit or "Ghost" Do we fear them? I for one did not, I saw the spirit of my departed sister-in-law over 28 yrs ago, it was late one night in my sons room at the foot of his crib, and she spoke to me and I know in my heart she has always been his guardian angel. People can believe or not, I know she was there.

There are people that claim they have experienced something supernatural. People can be convinced that ghosts exist after watching Ghosthunters too.

The most important word is belief.If someone believes in God then He exists.Why do only the Christians see Jesus and not the others?If He comes and stands in front of a Hindu,be sure He wont get recognized.Similarly the Hindu God Shiva lives in a burial ground,has ghouls,ghosts and other nocturnal creatures as his entourage.His forms the 3rd of the trinity and is called the God of destruction.His world exists for all Hindus and so do the ghosts and all their friends too.Who says that there is no proof for that?Please follow the Tantra and you shall know all that!Frankly the western world has little knowledge of these things!

Lets say you standing in your home alone and something appears in front of you. Maybe not a transparent person but something you can not explain. perhaps a mist. Now lets say that all of a sudden this mist moves toward you and you feel what appears to be a slap. You would feel you have experienced something paranormal because mist can not slap you. Although you have no proof but your own personal experience you know for a fact that something that was not normal happened. What I am saying is maybe the only proof is the experience you have. Maybe that is as good as it is ever going to get. Just because science can't figure it out and you can't capture it does not mean that it isn't real. although I have never experienced it I would believe millions of people who say they have over a few hundred scientist who say we can't figure it out so it isn't real.

Because people have always had trouble with the idea of what is going to happen when they die. People can't accept their own insignicicance, so they invent stories about heavens, Ghosts, spirits, Afterlifes and ciencarnations.. in order to comfort themselves and eachother about an uncertain future that awaits them, and of corse comfort in knowing people that had passed away are in a 'better place' Don't get me wrong, i would love to ghost around, being a ghost when i die.. i just don't see it happening :(

People are afraid of death. Life is all we have ever experienced, and people tend to be very afraid because they do not know what will happen after death. To calm themselves, people like to think about ghosts and afterlives, so that they can believe that there is something after death that is pleasant and not at all unknown. That's what I put it down to anyway.

I don't believe In a ghost myself, but I believe In a spiritual world of the Holy spirit and evil spirits from Satan. I don't think spirits wonder the earth haunting houses or graveyards, but I think It's fun to be scared sometimes and that's what makes people thrive on It.

If you have no proof you can't generalize. If you expierence a ghost then you can say that you say that there is a ghost in the world. I don't know how you can believe there are ghost when you never seen one. Till then, it is possible.

That is a loaded question. First it assumes there is no proof of ghosts. Many ghost believers, have seen "ghosts" (whether they really were ghosts or not I'm sure depends on the situation), but atleast to the person the ghost was real. So what better proof is there than seeing with your own eyes? If you saw an elephant would you doubt the existance of elephants? Wouldn't that be enough proof for you even if people all around you told you elephants were silly and make believe, just invented to scare children? Well if you would believe an elephant why not a ghost? This is why people believe in ghosts, because there is evidance.

You might as well ask why people believe in god when their is no proof of him, my answer is because people want to believe there is more then just this life, they want to go on, they don't want to just go out like a light.

Because I have personally experienced them and know other people who have.

ther is a strong proof for them when some people do a magic (magic may be not the right word for what i mean)..but how can we explain when people do some magic to harm other people such as .. i know a lot friend who suddenly hate his wife without any reason .. and a friend who leave his wife and love his (UGLY) housemade from indonisia ... these are example of this magic some people do to harm others .. it's commen in indonisia .. a lot of indonisian house-made in Saudi Arabia do this magic to be loved by the man :) .. yes it's true and i see a lot of cases one example to do this magic is that they take a hair or a finger nale from the person and put it with some blod and strange words and codes no body understand and they put it under the ground or inside dead body and i see that when these stuff is burned .. the magic doesn't work anymore http://www.alriyadh.com/2009/05/26/img/265145.jpg some people die from that .. we belive in this and it's mentioned in quran and we see a lot of cases in my country .. what i want to see is that the power of this magic is from the JINN (or the ghost .. a kind of jinn). if jinn,ghost,devil ..etc doesn't exixt..so how can you explain that the punishment for the person who do this (magic) is killing in the law of Saudi Arabia (LAw of Islam)

A universal need to cope with death I guess, since every culture has its ghost myth. Or maybe it's something real, but we can't explain or understand it beyond the definition it currently has. I thought that there were actual photographs of ghosts and whatever, but if there are, I guess you'd have to know to recognize the hoaxes, and there are probably plenty.

if you work or receive a pension, do you believe that you will be entitled to a wage increase sometime in the next 20 years? sometimes we believe in things for reasons that are difficult to explain. on the other hand, i've lived in many "ghost rich environments" and i've never yet found anything that would lead me to believe in the existence of ghosts.

People are often passionately devoted to Security Beliefs, and this is one of them. If ghosts did in fact exist, it would be evidence that life after death exists. People wish this was true with extreme passion, so they eagerly seize upon anything that seems to confirm this belief, regardless of how absurd it may be while rejecting the strongest arguments against ghosts.

Demons exist (Gen 6) they are attempting to blind us from the truth about God and Christ (2Cor 4:4). We should avoid all things that are spiritistic or supernatural (Deu 18:10-13).

Theres no proof there is a god but look how many want to believe there is.

Belief in ghosts is a form of Security Belief, so people passionately want to believe such stuff. If ghosts did exist, that would be evidence for life after death. Such people prefer delusions to truth. Death is final, and it is logical, mature and objective to accept that fact, but many people are illogical, immature and biased, so they refuse to face the truth that displeases them. That is quite immature.
