  • Check out what your state requires for licensure, and what the demand is going to be. Some states require that you student teach at each grade level you want to be licensed in, and that would mean 2 semesters of just student teaching.
  • I don't think you need to double major. Earn one degree and then license in the second area. I'm a elementary ed major, who will teach special ed. My degree will be elementary and I'll be licensed in both. It is possible to do it in 4 years, it depends on you, what sort of courseload you can handle, etc. It's always a good idea to go into teaching IF you are called to do it. It's not glamorous or well-paid, so you need to really want it.
  • As a former teacher in the state of Kentucky, I would strongly suggest you find a different career choice.
