  • Try spraying them with Lysol, of some other disinfectant. The liquid might help. You could also wipe them down with petroleum jelly, a very thin layer will be enough.
  • My boyfriend has experienced a similar problem in his apartment by his bed. We clean it regularly, but before the problem was discovered, mold had begun to grow. We have set a folded towel on the window sill that we alternate frequently...but aside from that temporary fix we have yet to find a solution.
  • Check for internal roof leaks. If you get rainwater through the roof and into the walls, that water has to escape somehow. Usually by evaporating and condensing out on a cold window.
