Ok i know of someone who has named each one of their kids with something to do with starwars. im a HUGE harry potter fan... would it be weird to name my daughter Hermione? just wanted some opinions

Just because you are a "HUGE" potter fan doesn't mean your kid is. Get a cat instead. you can call that what you want, or even a bird, and that won't be laughed at later in life because of it. seriously. I am not saying that you shouldn't use your imagination for your kids name, nor am i trying to make a decision for you, but honestly? A name from Harry Potter? Ok, I'll name my kid R2D2 or Chewbakka..

Better think of a name that she would be comfortable with when she grows up. Or she will change her name which might hurt you. I had never read any Harry Potter books. So I bought a set of Harry Potter audio books but could not get past the second. I tell you this because there are plenty of people who do not really relish the Harry Potter characters.

I, personally, wouldn't use a single movie to name my kids, but if I could find a number of people named the same, I would be more willing to use the name. Here's a video of one your grandmother or mother would remember - Hermione Gingold David Bowie had a song called "Letter to Hermione" The third video is something she may have to put up with (though with the popularity of the HP books, who knows?) Another actress named Hermione Norris So, other than the name not being something heard every day, I'm thinking that it's not a bad name, at all. Just be aware, that as with those children who's parents named them with a slightly "off" name, or strange spelling, there will be those who make fun of her because of the name. Of course, no matter what we say, either way, it's up to you and your s/o. ;-)

Names are very important. They do have a lot to do with how your life will go. Try to name your child something that has a good meaning and will not have the child ridiculed by it's peers. That said, Hermione is not a bad name, but naming your child after a movie is not necessarily a good idea.

why does everyone think that im naming her Hermione because of the movie. being a HUGE HP fan i read the books and enjoy them alot more than the movies. just thought i would get that out there. and thanks for answering everyone. i dont intend on naming my future daughter Hermione, i intend on naming her Lyric. so just so everyone knows :D

I know 2 women called that - aged 42 - so it's not necessarily linked in peoples mind to Harry Potter. One of them shortens it to Mione.

Do you hate your child already? Why the H*ll would you name a chile Hermoine. Growing up is hard enough without adding obstacles along the way.
