  • To certain people, it probably matters a great deal. I don't mind.
  • Well I wouldn't like to be in a non-denominational. If the fold buried there are anything like the ones I have met, I'd rather be buried in Timbuktu.
  • I think cremation is WAY cheaper. But having just buried my brother-in-law, I'd answer that it matters to the family. The funeral isn't done for the deceased.
  • Only in the minds of people and their families. I really don't understand it. If I am dead (afterlife or no) it makes no difference. If there is nothing after this life, I'm dead, I don't care. If there is an afterlife, the part of me that is me is not in that body anymore, so who cares.
  • Headstones, graves, and flowers are for those left behind. Not one dying person I have talked to cared one bit about these things.
  • Not really.
  • does it REALLY matter what beer you drink? or which cigarette you smoke? or which TV program you watch at night? or what station your radio is tuned to? or which cola you enjoy the most? or who makes your car? or which brand of jeans you wear? or who goes to the super bowl? or wins the world series? we all have personal preferences in ALL areas of our lives, it's part of what makes each of us the unique individuals we are. to each his/her own. it may not matter to ME where you are buried, but if it matters to YOU, that's all that matters
  • Not to me, but to some people it is very important. Burial services are for the living and they need to do what they can to make the death bearable.
  • Not at all, but many church cemeteries are only open to members. This is perfectly understandable, as there is only so much ground. When it is gone, it is gone. In many cemeteries in the old world, you only actually get to have the grave for the time it takes your flesh to rot. Then they dig up your bones and put them in a smaller space and allocate that ground to another body to rot in. I can see the US getting to that point in many areas before too long. If you live in North Dakota, no problem. But if you live in the Eastern Seaboard, you may have to either be cremated or have the grave for a limited time before too long. Cemeteries are filling up rapidly. The baby boomers may be the tipping point.
  • Not really, it's all mud aint it!
