I plan ahead. I use the net to find rest stops and most available motels/hotels. I do use maps, too.

I try my best to NOT look like a tourist. Especially when I go to Europe! I use my phones GPS system.

I usually get directions off the internet and then when I stop at road site tourist stops I will look at those maps to check my distance left and if I have any questions i will ask them there. As a driver driving alone I can't read a map and it's really incovienant to have to pull over and pull out one and try to read it so my way works so far.

We use AAA trip-tx and internet maps we print out, and the wonderful Thomas Bros map book. Hubby wants a GPS.
