People are usually buried in a suit or dress. i'm not sure they may be able to be buried in what they want but then it may be a closed casket funeral

The next of kin, or whoever is making the funeral arrangements, usually make this type of decision. They don't have to honour the person's wishes, but they can choose to. They might not be aware of the person's last wishes or they might feel that they are inappropriate for soem reason.

The family of the deceased can provide clothing from the person's wardrobe. You can buy clothing from the undertaker, but this is expensive. My mother requested to be buried in a favorite outfit. I suppose they can be buried in whatever they wish, but I think the muddy clothes may be a health hazard.

I'm not in mortuary science; but I think the family of the deceased chooses the garments their loved ones are buried in. If it was the request of the deceased to be buried in the clothes they were wearing, I'm not sure if the clothing would be laundered first; but the wishes of the deceased would be honored as much as is possible.

First if they were found under those circumstances the body would be going to the medical examiners office. If there is an autopsy the clothes they are wearing may be destroyed or even held as evidence if it is considered a homicide or foul play, at which time it would not matter what the wishes of the deceased would be. If it is a jane or john doe and they are buried in the county cemetery they are just buried in a body bag in a wood casket. If it was an accident or suicide i guess if the family wanted to honor the wishes of being buried in the clothes they are wearing they could. Family usually buries a family member in the deceased favorite clothing or a nice outfit.

It can always happen of course. Depends on custom and circumstances. Clothes can certainly be washed, but depending on the condition of the clothes, and how the condition of the body affected the clothing, it may or may not be the choice of the family. As for what clothes are people usually buried in, suits and dresses are common. If appropriate, a military uniform or religious attire, or robe... It's really up to custom, religion, the wishes of the deceased and the wishes of the family involved. The funeral home will do their best to dress the deceased in whatever the next of kin has provided.
