Now that is a difficult question to answer on answerbag. I think I might just keep that to myself for the time being. But you never know, later on I might just pluck up the courage!

i don't think i could write my life story cause i have a lousy memory for everything. it's only been 43 years but a lot of memories are sketchy. i think i would leave out the amount of masturbating i engaged in as a youngster... no one would want to hear about that.

I don't think I would be able to leave out anything. Even if it was really embarassing, I would probably still include it. That's the whole purpose of an autobiography, isn't it? To record all of the important things that happened in your life? If something was so embarassing that I would be afraid to bring it up, I would know that I must include it in the account of my life.

probably all those "are you there God, it's me Margaret" moments like puberty and stuff. :p

I wouldn't leave anything out, the most embarassing bits are what make autobiographies worth reading. :)

I've got nothing to be ashamed of, and wouldn't leave anything out.

2001 was a very embarrassing year.

I think it defeats the purpose of an autobiography to leave things out for embaressment reasons. Whatever raises those flags with us are probably areas that have importance .. mark conflict .. choices .. life lessons .. ie things that make us who we are! Note that we might leave something out simply because a detail by detail book of any life would be BORING! lol But decisions about what's in or out should come from the greater framework of "the life" being presented in the book .. not embaressment. Something is or isn't central to "the life story" developing on the pages of the book .. the pages we want readers to keep turning .. It's probably a whole lot easier to see this if we were talking about a biography and someone ELSE's life story. If we hit a year or event or time or relationships or choices that THEY are embaressed by? Then we know to carefully and respectfully probe those areas. In both cases .. that biography .. or full circle back around to us and our autobigraphy? I think much depends on HOW we handle it. We need sensitivity and judgement. We need reflection. We need to include details that show rather then tell .. about a human life .. a personality. Some might be embaressing. Some we'll include. Some we won't. But we'll try to have balance and tell the life story with as much skill and truth as we can muster.

If I would be too embarrassed to put it in my autobiography what makes you think it wouldn't be too embarrassing to mention here?
