  • You would think so, huh? But it's been my experience that most folks exaggerate when they say they don't care what others think. ;-)
  • You're absolutely correct. This is because people's self esteem is strongly invested in people, things and events outside themselves. So, if self esteem depends on what someone thinks about you, when they no longer think about you or think about you negatively, there goes self esteem.
  • Ideally, the only way to truly not care what people think about you is jus that, an ideal. In order to not be bothered by criticism you aren't supposed to be flattered by praise.
  • Nah... Why reply (say anything) about something positive? However, because negative things said about you are usually to hurt you, if you say nothing, they will either continue or escalate. If they don't bother you and you say so, they tend to die out.
  • Our minds are as different as our finger prints - no two are alike. I care equally about good and bad remarks.
