Do jobs really require 3-5 years of experience? Every job seems to require multiple years of experience, but how does one gain that experience if no one hires them for not having any? Even with schooling no one wants you without that experience.

Jeff, I am a high school history teacher going for my masters, then doctorate. It's rough on new teachers, assistants, etc. because when a school hires an employee they try and hire a family member, (someone who will fit in without much training). It's a shame but it took me five months to land my first job. It's hard to hire someone young because the chances of them leaving for a better job is greater. They want a perm. teacher. That is also a reason why more at risk schools and public schools have younger teachers, and private schools usually have alumni. Good luck, David.
