From the figures on the latest annual statement I received, I could but just barely.

I get them now and I get $486.. luckily I get SSI too..my total together is $667 a month and it's almost impossible to live on that.. I have to save to the bare minimum and I have NOT 1 dime left over.. If an emergency happens or I need something unexpected like car tires, etc. I am screwed.

Absolutely! My husband and I did it for six years, in Mexico, lived like kings but lately that country sounds a bit dangerous. Panama and other latin places seem to be where alot of retired/disabled Americans are fleeing. Check out other countries on the web especially if you can never work again, it's surprising how many Americans are doing this, you won't be the only folks from the US in most places and medical care, food, housing, etc. can as good or better. It's an adventure and less scary than being poor in America. We returned here only to try once more to make a retirment fund, not having much luck so if we're stuck with just ss I hope we can find another place again to live in dignity and have some FUN again!

If I lived in a rat hole in China somewhere. Not here in real time America! No way. A can of tuna used to cost 50cents now its almost a dollar. Everything is so much higher and no one is spending except for food, bills and bare minimums. Even Ebay layed off 25% of their staff. We'll all have to become 'dumpster divers' and sell it on Ebay. How sad. America is free if you in old age-can't afford a can of cheap tuna at Walmart. Iam not that bad off, but, I've heard some retired folks-have to eat cat food. Politicians certainly don't care. Anyone we elect-things are not going to change for the better-too far gone at this point. See GOD and HIS mercy.
