I am a new Bass Clarinet player and even though i am able to play the insturment; I am having trouble seeing the music stand while playing. What can i do?

i use a floor peg while sitting with my bass clarinet. here's what i do: i sit on the edge of my chair, and adjust the instrument so the floor peg is resting on the floor underneath the edge of my chair, putting the instrument at an angle (not perpendicular to the ground). that makes the neck of the instrument parallel to the ground, and i'm able to see over it to see my music. raising the stand an inch or two helps, also. when standing, don't let the neck strap do all the work. hold the instrument the same way: so it's at an angle, and the neck is parallel to the ground.
