It depends on the branch of Pentecostalism he would fall under. The United Pentecostals believe that you must be Spirit Baptized with the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues in order to get to Heaven. As an Assemblies of God Pentecostal, I would hold that there is the Spirit that comes and dwells within at salvation (1 John 3:24) and a subsequent work of grace that is Spirit Baptism with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

Univerally, I think that Pentecostals hold to water baptism by immersion (dunking) rather than sprinking. To me, it's not a big deal. It's the heart that matters. Pentecostals, generally, believe in a believer's baptism (meaning you have accepted Christ into your heart) rather than infant baptism (being baptized and later confirmed).

Pentecostalism is a relatively new movement in relation to Wesley and the Methodist movement. Many of the patriarchs of the Pentecostal movement found Christ in the Methodist movement. Its all a beautiful a tapestry of faith.

I don't believe that any denomination has it completely right. There are aspects of all of them that are inherently flawed. What I would suggest to you is to pray with your boyfriend about this issues and step out in faith. Take turns going to each others church and see which one suits you. There is no "wrong" decision. Just love God with your whole heart, mind, and stregth where ever it is that you end up and follow Him where He leads you.

    Hope this helps!

P.S. I don't think that its scriptural that God ask what denomination we were a part of... just that we loved Him, accepted His Son, and loved each other like He did. lol. Have fun! God bless!

If you are a Methodist, you should learn to spell it. Maybe you are actually Pentecostal, since you got that one right.

none, read the bible and you will know the truth.Jesus never spoke about methodist baptist pentecostal people. He just said:My sheep hear my voice, okay so the only diference that we should find between churches and us is about local churches example :the church of new york,or the church of london etc, etc;read revelation and you will find that John speaks about the church of Filadelfia ,the church of Epheses etc, etc,He never spoke about denominations. For Jesus we are one church,HIS CHURCH AND HIS BODY,divisions are not biblical and christians are those who hear Jesus' voice. You just have to read the Bible with prayers to the Lord to reveal you the truth.
