I have a hard drive from an old computer that has xp and ubuntu 8.04. It is set as a slave on my new comp(because of new hd) and will boot linux, but i cant get it to boot xp anymore. In GRUB it choose Xp and it flashes the BSOD so fast I cant read.

XP has it's own bootloader, which it uses if you select XP from GRUB. The thing is that that bootloader is attempting to boot from the XP partition of your MASTER drive. You *could* edit your WIN.INI file but it might be easier to just swap your master and slave jumpers on your drives. -
