If you provide more than 50% of their support, you can claim them as dependents, However, check further because the fact that your daughter is married could be a problem. Make sure your next return claims Head of Household status because you are providing a home for your grandson--NOT your daughter, You cannot claim Head of Houseland status for a married child. IRS has an 800 number which is free, You can get information without revealing anything else to them. They'll give you the absolute official line and you can go from there. Head of Household is close to the married tax rate and much lower than the single rate. I am not an expert--I've just faced this issue myself. Make sure you check with a tax professional that you trust.
