tell him straight out that you dont think its working, you answered your own question..

Sit down and write a list to yourself as to why it's not working. Then tell him "It's not working out" Be prepared to tell him why. Do NOT mention another guy!

Be honest. Then cut off all ties, and don't give him any mixed signals, cos its not fair to him. You can do it!
