I have the Antivirus XP malware on my computer and so far, none of the instructions to remove it have worked for me. Is my computer pretty much done for?

Unlike other operating systems, Microsoft Windows is plagued with malware - as you have unfortunately found out the hard way :( If you're using Windows then you also really need to run a third party anti-malware suite. This will help to prevent infections from various types of malware such as viruses, adware and spyware. One good (and free for home use) suite can be obtained from Avast - http://www.avast.com This should also be able to remove your current infestation. Unfortunately, it is often the case that if you are infected at all then you will have many different infections and nothing will be able to repair the damage. In these instances a simple OS reinstall will get you back to a "known good" state. From there, be certain to install your security suite and you'll greatly cut down the chance of a repeat infection.
