I don't know how to start one, but two came to mind when I read your question. There is a place called Barkerville, it was deserted now restored gold mine town that has a booming business. All buildings redone, some museum like, with actors in vintage clothes trying to sell you gold mining rights, and penny candy at the general store. Look it up, it's Barkerville, BC. AND another version could be medieval days, again, very popular with men for sure. You can't visit without wearing the vintage clothes (they will loan you some) and this is called Creative Anachronism, I think, with knights and pig spits.
