  • Don't put OFF on your kitty. Get real flea medication - like advantage, frontline, revolution ,etc. And make sure you use the formula meant for cats, and you'll need to know how much your cat weights to get the right dosage. Do not use the dog formula. Then you may have to take care of the flea issue in the house as well. This will include vacuuming, washing bedding, clothing, pillows, etc. Steam cleaning carpets. And if it's bad enough, using a chemical treatment for your house. • No, don't put off on your cat, she'll lick it off, no don't..If your problem is so bad, get a house bomb and set it off, and you and kitty leave. A few hours later, come back, clean every surface in your house. Get advantage flea meds for kitty, you can go on line and buy it or take her to vet. flea bombs are bought in pet stores. No off on Kitty, please:)
  • If regular OFF! contains DEET it will keep fleas off of you. I use Deep Woods OFF! and it works for me.
  • As Health Editor for National Pet Press, I can tell you that there are some very sad people who have used various things to kill fleas without success. Cats are very sensitive to chemicals. Pet owners have been using them for years, but they still have flea problems. Just because the FDA deems a product safe for humans does not mean that it is safe for pets, especially cats. Compare your size to that of your pet to assess the risk. Even many everyday natural ingredients may pose a danger when used on your cat. And look at all the flea products of the past that were recalled after the damage occured.
  • First, call a professional bug exterminator. Fleas are for pets, not humans. Use no chemicals on pets that are safe for humans. Some chemicals will destroy your pet. Second, call a vetrinarian. Use his advice.
