A competitor must be at least 16 during the year of competition. Thinking about the Chinese female gymnasts? Have to amend my original answer: its 16 for gymnastics, but it can be as low as 15 for swimming. USA has a 15 yr-old competitor in her first games. I guess it all depends upon the potential wear and tear on the body.

Its either 16 or 15, as I thought I heard them say there is a 15yr old compeating? Perhaps. I'm not entirely sure. I hope that helpes but it probably didn't!

The minimum age for gymnastics is 16 years old. The Chinese team reports all members as 16 or older, as shown on their passports. There is other informatin that has bees cited that shows two members to be 14 and one to be 15. The truth will probably never be known.

You must be 16 though there are some that are younger. However they don't ask to see your birth certificate.
