Do you check the date a question was posted before you answer it to avoid giving advice on something that happened over a year ago?

sometimes i check first and answer accordingly. sometimes i check afterwards and then i change my answer. I sometimes ask the questioner what has happened in the interim.

No if I know the answer and have not already answered the question I will still answer ,I may have something useful to add.

I do. If it's over 3 months old or so, i won't answer it. If it has over 3 pages of answers I won't answer it. chances are the answerer will not still be around to even read the answer or the problem has already been solved. I have seen homework questions that go back 2 years.. I am sure by now..they have been solved.

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It just depends on the question. I think I am on the same track here as all other answers you've rec'd.
