If you use a spanish word in an english sentence, and it starts with J but gives and H sound (Jalapeno), do you say 'an' or 'a' before it??? Like "an historic occasion", or "an jalapeno pepper".

Its not always "an" before H. Take "a hat" for example. I think it works the same with the spanish words.

I would say "A jalepeno pepper" with a sharp "A" like in "Ape." But that's just me.

why not just say "un jalapeno?" /or una //been awhile since I took spanish
