You know that was my first x-wifes favorite song...Its pretty and I just read the lyrics to remind myself and I don't know what it means so I hope someone has a good explanation.

The song comes from Ann watching her dog chasing a butterfly around their yard. A quote from Nancy, about this song says: "As Ann watched her dog it struck her as symbolic as to how life can be. When you're an earthbound creature we're always jumping and reaching for things we can never really catch, but you try anyway. And that's the point of the song, we're always trying to grab at something higher." And I guess that's the way I've always thought of the song though in a lighter way, just fluttering higher but in a simple enjoyable way, not frustrated like a cat hunting a moth.

I always thought it kind of meant to just forget about all the complicated, messy stuff about life, and learn to stop and enjoy the simple pleasures when you can. But, that's just a guess.
