Why is it that younger married couples get divorced because of cheating when there are much older couples that have made it through infidelity and are happy and still in love with eachother?

The older couples' relationships were more rooted and more pure. The younger ones probably don't know each other that well and are not as trusting and a bit more superficial.

You have nail it that older couples are from a different generation than younger couples. Those older generation has a lot of sacrificing done.... Now, Women are more independent and do not have to rely on a man for support as much any more and will not tolerate crap... Men on the other hand expect the same contribution of women and expect them to pay their share. Women want to be treated like ladies and yet want the pie of the working force... which nowadays is neccesary... the trouble is that some men now expect the women to pay equal share and may shirk their responsibilities and treat women like a man/pal... wihich does not seem to work.. It is a confusing world!!

Older couples have more of a history with each other and are more determined to try to repair the problem instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

the other younger person also wants to cheat, so she divorces him for his infidelity. history might be part of the explanation for the difference between young and old couples. i think that older folks are settling down, not drinking or smoking pot (or, as much).

it's not the age, it's the mindset of the individuals. I got married when i was 19, we are on our 21st anniversary and still very much in love, happy & contented. I was brought up in a family were morality and faith in God comes first. Good faith & moral foundation is key to a successful marriage.
