If everything that exists does so only by the command of God, then the so-called "Devil"--with all his evil deeds--has to be also a creation of this God. So isn't God the perceptual background to absurdity?

the devil is a creation of God. according to the Bible, he was an angel named Lucifer, and he decided that he should be as powerful as God, and pretty much lost that argument. got kicked out of heaven, etc. the joy of free will.

(Isa 45:7) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. God has His tools for refining. This may seem absurd to those not refined.

God created the devil to test our faith. We have to choose what is right, and wrong, the bible is there for our guidance, as im sure you know, adam and eve, did not pass this test, and that is why our world is so messed up today, because essentially they "created" sin, and rebelled against god. Some consider the Devil to be an angel who rebelled against God and has been condemned to hell. He is described as hating all humanity, or more accurately, creation, opposing God, and wreaking havoc on mankind. But god did have a purpose for making him, and that purpose was to test our faith, as i've said before. So essentially he did create evil, but that was because he has to make sure we can withold "wordly things" and be worthy enough to make it to heaven. I dont know if that answers your question at all, or if that was what you were looking for..

All that exists was created by God, that is true. Sin has perverted everything, thanks to Adam and Eve, though we would have only done it sooner. God allows sin, and even satan. His plan is not easily seen, but I hear they have free optometrists in churches.

It seems to me that this "testing your faith" argument is too convenient. Wouldn't that also mean that God created the thousands of criminals / terrorists / etc. all over the world too, so are they all there solely for the purpose of testing people's faith (even people who subscribe to different religions)?

Yes this is what doesn't make any sense. If God is the soul ruler of the universe then he created Satan only so that he could later be the tester for absoultely no reason due to the fact that there was nothing to test them on at that time so long ago. The concept of God would either be really stupid or he was simply made up by men. I mean after all the only record of God was made up by men who could've had mental illnesses.

You're saying.."If.....therefore". If and only if your premise is correct..if God created all, then all is His creation, including Devil. One might argue, then, that God created Devil to give man something to overcome, to resist, to compare, to contemplate, to decide, to become stronger. Free Will is meaningless if there are no Good/Bad choices. I see nothing absurd here! Happy Friday! :)

Remember, it is Free Will that gives benefit to the Devil. It would be easy for God to simply make us all worship Him, but that would be like extracting information through torture...all you'll get is whatever is needed to stop the torture. The same principle applies here. Why mandate worship if it really doesnt mean anything? Hence, the Devil, who actually serves God by presenting another choice. When God is chosen, it comes freely and without coercion, making that worth a whole lot more.

Lucifer "as the story goes" was an angel in heaven and was supposed to be head of the angels choir.As was posted before, Lucifer decided he should have as much power as "God". legend has it that lucifer planned a attack on God and gathered many other angels on his side with promises of great power if they won. God cast lucifer into hell as the story goes. actually hell "if you do your research" was a place that trash was burned outside of the city walls and if you got caught doing crimes that deserved death then when you got crucified or beheaded ect you didnt get a proper burial they simply cast you into the forever burning trash pit called "hell" outside of the city walls. As for free will? well as for lucifer he had free will and used it and look what happened. He no longer has free will as he did but we do.

No. It is simply a diabolical reality in which we choose to live our life the way God sees fit, or continue in our selfish rebellion, in which we are all guilty as charged. Thank God there is expectation of us. We need love, and need to learn how to love. Selfish rebellion is not hitting on much last time I checked.

Xianity has a history of blaming the Devil for everything they do not agree with or in reality, their own crimes against humanity. Satan does not place restrictions upon people. Satan advocates individuality, freedom and the advancement of the human race. Satan does not represent chaos, as some believe. One must know of him to appreciate this. Satan is very consistent. Of course one has to believe in him and the xian god...butjust using the above to clairify things for folks that do claim to believe.

We see in the book of Job, that Satan can do no more than God allows him too. God created this warfare system of good verses evil for the trial of faith of all mankind, and whether we like it or not, our heart is forced into decisions and choices daily, that God may see who is truly sincere toward Him, and not those who only say so. And we which do believe know that the things which are seen are temporal, while the things which are not seen are eternal.
