If your doctor blows you off then call every doctor's office on your ins plan or in the phone book and ask if they have a doctor who is familiar with transgender issues. Some doctors don't know much about it.

If you have a local gay community center they can put you in touch with other TGs for advice and support. Join the online groups too.

Oestrogen is the biggest helper, but you don't want to take it without a doctor's supervision like I did. I ended up in the hospital. I can't take estrogen (neither can my mother) due to blood clots but there are several meds that cause gynocemastia (man boobs) especially Tagamet which is OTC. It is working for me. Eating tons of Soy and taking Soy Isoflavones supplements will increase your available estrogen.

I am not sure about the being fat advice that others have given unless you are pear shaped. Men gain weight on their bellies but not on their hips and thighs where you want it. Fat women also have much more pronounced curves than skinny women. IMHO it would be easier to pass as a thin person since skinny women normally don't have big hips/thighs plus I have had many health problems related to high weight and I am only a size 18/20. Alcoholism can cause feminization of the body but you don't want to go there either.

You can wear breast forms under a bra to give you boobs and put foam in your panties or pantyhose to give you a big butt and hips until you can afford cosmetic surgery. They sell this stuff for people like us on eBay and elsewhere online -- search for drag queen, transgender, or cross dresser. Don't inject yourself with silicone at a party either -- people have died from that.

The simply answer is to try and dress convincingly as a women, in other words try to act and dress as a woman.
There is much written on this subject on the internet but if you are just starting out then it may be just as well to get some helpful tips from a female friend who I am sure would be happy to help you achieve your look and get you passing as a female in no time at all.
If you do not attract too much attention you should be fine.
A simple and informative guide to transgender issues is outlined here, abide by some of these guidelines and you shouldn't experience too many problems.

That is tricky. You may want to talk to your doctor about your feelings, at your next checkup, especially if your parents aren't supportive. You can ask for it to be off the record and he/she may offer some good advice or refer you to someone you can talk to, to get you through it. Keep in mind that women come in all shapes and sizes and it matters most how you think and behave.

Be very careful when thinking about using female hormones, there are some bad side effects and some of the changes in your body would be permanent after some time ie breasts..(too late if you realised a year or two later that youre actually not transexual afterall) You must get psychologically assessed, its possible youre a tranvestite rather than a transexual but only a professional could say so for sure.

The female contraceptive pill is often given to transexuals as are HRT patches. The contraceptive pill is taken in much higher doses than a woman using it, about three a day but there is risk of deep vein thrombosis & liver/kidney damage with that. The patches go directly into the blood stream and bypass the liver and kidneys and are safter to use in my opinion. There are also psychological effects the hormones can have on you too so please don't use them lightly. Get assessed by a pro is my advice. All the best to you hun :)

I'm in the same situation. Growing out your hair and getting fat really makes a difference. The hardest battle is shaving the face hair.

Part of the reason getting fatter helps is that women are almost always fatter and less muscular. Also, your boobs get fatter along with the rest of you. Your hips will look wider with more fat there.

atleast you know how you feel! most people never know what they are! if your paretns arenot being supportive it may be because they have "I know best" syndrome...you need to speak to a counsellor so they can help you decipher why you don't feel like a man...I would do this before you start fiddling with your body...you may have the wrong levels of hormones already which make you mor prone to more feminine behavious, attitudes and feelings initially..we are controlled by our hormones initally but this may feel as if it is going deeper for you..i can only imagine how hard it is, but once you make the "change" then i'm sure you will either feel better or gooo "oh my god i've got breasts!!".... obviously you want to look as feminine as possible, you might find you are more accepted as a woman if you try restructuring the face aswell, so remove any "chisseled" appearances.

i went to see the ladyboys of Bangcock recently and I could not tell the difference...men were throwing themselves at them...they looked prettier than most women!!

good luck, and i hope your paretns become more supportive
