  • need little more information, is this a optical mouse? is this the only port not working? if all other ports work then check mouse in another port, If by chance this is a optical mouse then it could have lost its signal, also make sure battery is good, then on the optical eye that sits on desk there is a reset button on bottom and mouse has one too, push both at same same and they will reset themselves. (sometimes they also can need to have drivers reinstalled if the battery has gone dead long enough) if this is a plain, mouse then go to control panel, mouse icon, hardware tab, properties and see if it tells you its work or not and can run troubleshooting from there also.
  • 1) Boot into safe mode and see if it will detect the mouse. 2) Try another USB object / mouse in your USB ports to make sure it isn't the mouse. 3) Use a PS2 adapter on the mouse to see if it will work that way. (they are cheap and it's a good way to check the mouse out)
