  • It's been a while since I worked on a '96 caravan. Many vehicles have "shared" fuses for multiple components. I believe the radio fuse is in the driver's under hood compartment. If you can't find one that includes radio, check all of the fuses to see if any of them are blown. Most likely, one of them is blown, that is, if the radio doesn't turn on. If the problem is not powerring up, then it is not a fuse problem.
  • for one the fuses under the hood are for major components like light ac system etc.. the fuse for the radio is under the dash on the drivers side.. if the problem isnt in there it could be a faulty ground wire or positive wire.
  • If you didn't find a fuse for the radio under the hood it doesn't surprise me at all. They never put a radio fuse there. Generally you will find it under the dash, drivers side, But if you are serious that there isn't one for the radio there then there are two other possible places. It could be on the back of the radio itself or inline from the radio to power. These are generally found when it is not the original radio. Good luck.
  • If the radio is coming on but simply not working right then it is not a fuse nor a power problem. It is a problem in the radio, the wiring, or the speakers depending on exactly what you mean by "isn't working right".
  • A good local repair shop will locate the problem in no time Jenny
  • Well, I have both a 96 and 97 town and country (same van with the chrysler name) If memory serves correct, the radio is on the cig lighter fuse. All the fuses on that van are under the hood next to the battery. The fuse I think you're looking for should be a smaller 20 amp mini blade fuse closest to the battery, eight fuses or so back from the front of the van. Again though, if the radio is powering up, and just not functioning properly, the problem isn't the fuse.
