Here in Australia we get a picture from American studies and television shows that a huge percentage of Americans are stupid when it comes to the rest of the world, even speaking geographically when it concerns your own country, what do you think about it

I think I know which video you mean. I'm not American, but I suspect they may have cherry picked the answers that they decided to show. It's not a huge percentage, at any rate.

I think there are morons everywhere, and people just tend to focus on the negatives when it comes to the U.S.

If that were the case. I guess thats why the US has remained the dominant nation in the world. I guess playing dumb does have it's advantages.

I'm used to it. I've known so many Canadians I've heard all kinds of myths about Americans that makes us seem stupider than we are. For example: All test up though high school are always open-book tests. The average American doesn't know their state capital or the vice president. You can make all Ds in college and still get a degree. They don't offer science until high school because it's too confusing. People have actually asked me if these things were true (they're not, btw). It's worrisome that people think we are all dumbasses, although if they watch our TV, movies, or a presidential speech I can understand why they think that. And if we keep consuming this garbage and electing people that can't pronounce 'nuclear' then we really will end up a nation full of dumbasses, because we never asked for anything to make us think. We aren't as stupid as other countries think, but we aren't as smart as we should be either, for one of the richest and most powerful countries.

I spent 20 years studying and working in Australia. Once moved to USA, I found that people (Americans) are so smart and intelligent. They know what's going on in the world. Back in Australia, most people I knew know nothing about the world. I also found that I can think and speak much faster and clearer. I found myself thinking about issues like "what's the meaning of life", "what can we human do to make it a better world"...In Australia, people often laugh at me for having these ideas. They said: "You think too much!" "You take life too seriously". "Relax! You should go to a party, let your hair down!" So I have no idea why they get this idea: Americans are stupid? All Americans criticize their government and their people. But you know what, a person who thinks he is not good enough often is one of the best. A person who is always happy about himself is often one of the dumbist. So is the same to a nation.
