  • In most states you are an adult at 18, and are free to do what you want.
  • it's not considered running away if you are eighteen. you're legally an adult, and free to go where you like.
  • i think that this is true in all states. exceptions might include if the 18 year old is a ward of the state (e.g., severe mental retardation or developmental disability). you might also have a problem if you leave the state while on juvenile probation / parole. assuming your parents called and reported you missing, you could be a missing persons adult...
  • What record are you referring too? 18 years old or whatever age, what kind of record are you talking about? I am really curious about this. How do you get a record for running away from home?
  • No! An 18 year old is an adult. So you can go wherever you want to. Move out of your parents house if you want to.
  • only if your parrents call your name in as a missing person, if u ran away at 17 and wasnt found till 18, You would still be in the system till they find you (or u get pulled over and they run ur name) but you would just from missing person to missing adult and if the state law is 18 for legal adult, you would not get introuble because you are 18.
  • I think you meant to say age 17. Until you hit the 18 mark, in most states, you are still a minor. Running away will be on your record, forever. Only a short while, till you turn 18. Stay and bear it, if you can.
  • And, other than your parents (only if they care), who's keeping a record of that again?
  • When your 18 years old. Your officially a young adult. And yes you may leave home. Its not running away. It;ll be your decision. There's nothing nobody can do about it.
