At work tonight a bottle of coke exploded, my hand was badly cut, it's fine apart from 1 cut on my index finger joint, it hurts when i bend it (and the cut opens each time) could i have glass in there, what should i do?

Where did you find a glass coke bottle?

How old was the bottle? They haven't made glass bottles in a good 20 years or so.

there is a good possibility that you mave have glass in there. If you can't see it,get yourself to the hospital and let a doctor take a look at. Where did you find a glass coke bottle by the way.?

Go see a doctor. You're supposed to see them when you get a cut on a joint like you have. That, and the chance that you could have glass means you should definitely go see a doctor.

I would not advise an ER visit, though some might, for I think that a visit to primecare would suffice if not a safety kit and self service. And yes, there is a good chance that glass is in there. SORRY!

If it opens when you bend your finger maybe you can see the glass. And if you press on it I would think it would either poke you or hurt like hell.

If you can't see the glass, it's due to two reasons: 1) There is no glass 2) It's too fine to be seen The human body is a marvelous invention. If a foreign body is present you will notice more severe pain, maybe drainage, and/or redness and irritation will be more pronounced over the next couple of days. Wash the cut with soap and water. Apply some sort of antibiotic ointment and cover with bandaid. If any of the symptoms I mentioned earlier occur, visit your local friendly clinic for a nice dose of antibiotic.

I cut my finger before and when i bend it it DOES open and it hurts! Try not to disturb it by putting on a plaster( don't make to too tight...it made my finger purple once) If glass is embedded, it should come out naturally as our skin dies, new layers will form and eventually push the glass out.
