Hmmmm.....I don't know what interests you. Fiction? Nonfiction? Biographies? History? I think it might be best to start with a story of any kind....one that goes from beh=ginning to end. I don't know your level of education either, so I will recommend the following books: Frosty, A Racoon To Remember Where the Red Fern Grows They aren't so long that you give up entirely, and they really take you along on their journies :)

Try the Bone Collector!

Start with something where your interest lies.. i started with the nancy drew series..

I don't know you, I don't know your personality or interests or hobbies, but I can still guarantee that you'll love Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. His books are laugh-out-loud funny but they also make you think. They're very deep... you know, for satire. You don't have to read them in order (in fact I recommend you start with a Vimes book, like "Guards! Guards!"), but you definitely should give them a whirl.

Charlotte's Web by E. B. White. It will you laugh, cry, and get angry but it will never bore you.

perhaps try reading something that you've seen in the film form and loved. Usually the book is different...I did this to "A walk to remember"- Nicholas Sparks..i preferred the book over the movie.

I would recommend Shantaram. Its long though but I could not put it down.

Maybe go to a bookstore and just open a few in the middle - if the you read a sentence thats interesting then go with it - if you don't then so be it. If I could make a recommendation it wouldd be Notes from the Underground by Doestevsky thats one on the better books about being boring.
