They say war solves nothing. Is it wrong for me to think it helps slow the steady decrease of intelligence?--considering the people who fight in wars seem 'not too bright'?

That is one way to look at it. I see it a bit differently (wouldn't you know it). I see it as preventing the INcrease of knowledge. While we're busy spending our energy warring with each other, there are things going unaddressed.....hunger, medical needs, education, and ways to improve civilization :)

Are you saying that only dumb people fight in wars and therefore warefare helps to cleanse these people from society? If so, that is a very sweeping statement and one I don't think is true. Think about all the different kinds of people involved in any kind of war. Generals, Politicians, Intelligence Divisions, Engineers, Special Forces, Communications Experts. Most of the armed forces are highly trained and go through rigourous selection processes. Also, what exactly is your idea of 'intelligence'?

We have some brave men and women fighting in wars at the moment to make the world safer for us all, how dare you call them "Not so bright" ?, I respect each and everyone of them, maybe its you who are "not so bright" ?

War takes the most physically fit and eliminates their genes from the gene pool. It also takes those of average and higher intelligence since I don't see those psy and written tests as trying to catch the low intelligence. They instead catch the patrotic and intelligent persons. Those with no loyalty, criminal types, no conscience, and doubtful morality are the ones who do not volulteer or flee to Canada (outside of the US) if there is a draft. Therefore, war allows the least desirables to continue living and spread their genes. DR's???

What an ignorant answer. There are so many intelligent people out there giving their life so you can talk trash about them. They are smart, and brave, and willing to die so we can have the freedoms to have this very conversation. You say they are stupid and I say they are heroes. They are our friends and our family. They are our husbands and wives, sons and daughters. They are the people making it so your ignorant ass can stalk sh*t behind their back. So you can keep calling them stupid and I'll keep calling you a waste of oxygen. You can bet your paycheck that at least one of those -5's are from me.

it may help put positive influences on eugenics. the only reasons i see that a person would put them self on the front line, extreme arrogance in not realizing you could be wrong or an extreme need for money and the willingness to kill for it... not too bright☺

that sounds like the attitude of british nobility during the colonial wars as they sent wave after wave of canon fodder to their death In the distant past wars were often fought by slaves, in modern times many countries have conscription, and other forms of national service. Even if you generalization was aimed at volunteer infantry soldiers - the argument still fails, yes their numbers may be dominated by the lowest social-economic demographics, but it is still circumstance of birth, not genetics that play the primary factor of the opportunities presented to people in their life. Secondly genes responsible for intelligence are quite seperate to those thought to be responsible for the brain chemistry of agression, so agreesion and intelligence are likely not mutually exclusive. Third. The genes responsible for intelligence come from the mother, historically men dominate the front lines, so effect on the net intelligence within the gen pool is minimised. fouth. civilian casualties frequently outnumber military. in conclusion, this argument fails in every sense.
