    The filtration wil depend on the livestock you want to keep. I run a deep sand bed with live rock and a protein skimmer for my filtration. Red algae is a sign of poor lighting and water movement. You'll wanna get rid of that. Check out Aquariumpros.ca and read some of the basic literature available.
