Black spot is fungal desease that lives in the soil and rain or watering will splash the spores onto the leaves. It is tough to contol. First you want to keep the leaves dry which means don't put them to close together and prune to keep the branches well spaced. Never water from above. Reapplications of fresh mulch help keep it a bay and keep the soil moist. If all else fails, weekly antifungal spraying although it is easier to stay ahead than to catch up. There are varieties that are resistant. Pruning, roses should be cut back to about 12-18 inches in the spring. But on standard roses prune to 6 inches from the top graft.

Black spots on roses are very common on roses and can get out of control fast how ever there are many ways you can control them first when you see black spots on the leaves you need to take the leaves off then treat your roses with something that helps fight black spots. I have many roses and have faced this problem so many times because where I live we do get rain and it takes about 4 to 7 hours to really get the spores going. But I have also found a way to get rid of the black spots without taking the leaves off. Here is the ingredients get 15 tomato leaves,2 small onions, 1/4 cup of isopropyl rubbing alcohol. chop the the tomato leaves and onions until finely minced and steep them in the alcohol overnight then use a small sponge type paint brush to apply the brew to both the tops and bottoms of any infected rose leaves. this really works it is well worth the trouble hope you try it good luck
