I tried a mix of Hatha & Kundalini Yoga, but soon switched to Tai Chi & Taoist Esoteric Yoga ... I find them far superior overall than just strength training, but the various aspects of Tai Chi are more aimed at building deep internal power and not brute muscle strength ... so for only raw strength, strength training is better ... but for hundreds of other health & fitness aspects, the Tai Chi & Taoist Esoteric Yoga is vastly better.

The only time I've ever been in a yoga position, is after piling up my dirt bike in a whooped out section of a clear cut. I do recommend a good hard dirt bike ride to firm and strenghten muscles. You'd be quite suprised at what a workout it is for your arms, back, thighs and calves. Just avoid the yoga positions if you choose this program.

Hello Misstarrie, How Are You? Now I am back on AB after 7 months and this is the first question I am going to answer. I am a person who does both.I hit the weights in the evening and Do Yoga in Early Morning. But I cant Compare the benifits in a nutshell. See weights training Just Tones our Muscles and keeps us in Good shape.Helps in maitaining a good metabolism and reduces fat.But Yoga on the other hand ,especially the breathing techniques known as Pranayam helps us fight diseases and they are excellent stuff for the work out of our Internal Organs. For mental Agileness Yoga has an Upperhand over Workout sessions .Its benifitial For those people who cant hit the weights due to old age or due to some physical abnormalities.People of any age group can Practice YOGA and stay fit.

Yes, I perform yoga regularly. It is a great for flexibility and agility, but it does not even come close to the results I got from strength training.

Yes, the benefits of practicing Yoga are better than strength training.

This is a fairly broad question open to a lot of interpretation. My take is strength training is just that, making muscles stronger more defined etc. Yoga will also do that but not as directly but what it will do over and above strenght training is to "balance" your body and muscles. A good Yoga practice works the entire bodies muscles. Yoga causes all the muscles to work in sync and this brings a balance to all the muscles in a way traditional strength training may neglect. You want to work your muscles try Vinyasa/flow Yoga Barron Baptiste is popular, http://www.baronbaptiste.com/pages/teach.htm but if you really want to push it try Forrest Yoga, Ana will kick your ass. http://www.forrestyoga.com/
