i took my kids over to the top of cadillac mountain in maine at christmas 1.5 years ago and we looked across at the atlantic ocean.

Well, I saw it from a plane flying over here from the states when I moved but it was dark so I didn't really "see" much of anything. Other than that I would say last year around this time, when a bunch of friends and I got together and spent a weekend at Virginia Beach.

About a year, the nearest beach to me is on a river estuary, and even then it leads into a sea, not an ocean. (thats the Ribble estuary in Lytham, and the Irish sea.)

Actually it's only been a couple months since my trip to Europe, so that's when I saw it. However, I hate the ocean after 6 years in the Navy and would be very happy if I never saw it again in my life.

since this morning i saw a mess of garbage on the beach in Alameda... my only concern is why are they more likely to have people perform road work than beach work??? My only assumption is that they love to see you humiliated :(

Almost 11 months. I live in the mid-west, so it is a long trip to see any ocean. I do have a trip planned to Florida in August, though. Five nights on a beach resort -- too cool! I'm envious of all those who say they see it every day. . .

About half an hour ago as I came downstairs. I can see the Atlantic Ocean through a window half way down my stairs, so it's one of the first things I see every day.

Does the Gulf of Thailand count? If so, it's been 9 months. But I was last out on the open ocean (the Atlantic) June 2002, though I've been out on the Caribean (2003 & 2004), on the Connecticut shore (2005), and out on the Andaman Sea (2006) since then.
