Well, I saw it from a plane flying over here from the states when I moved but it was dark so I didn't really "see" much of anything. Other than that I would say last year around this time, when a bunch of friends and I got together and spent a weekend at Virginia Beach.

Almost 11 months. I live in the mid-west, so it is a long trip to see any ocean. I do have a trip planned to Florida in August, though. Five nights on a beach resort -- too cool! I'm envious of all those who say they see it every day. . .

About a year, the nearest beach to me is on a river estuary, and even then it leads into a sea, not an ocean.
(thats the Ribble estuary in Lytham, and the Irish sea.)
