No, it doesn't. Now, how are you defining victory? It seems to me that it has been continually redefined with lower standards since the beginning. Let me tell you that history shows that Obama is correct. There is no military solution in Iraq. We cannot continue to impose peace (such that it is, I don't believe peace is merely an absence of violence) using force. In the history of the world, democracy has never been imposed by outside forces. It is a result of internal forces, including capitalism, growth of an economically empowered workforce demanding rights, widespread education, respect for the rule of law... The only thing preventing civil war there for so long was the brutal repression of Saddam's regime and the common enemy it presented. Other than that, these groups have been clashing with each other for longer than the US has existed. The idea that they would suddenly kiss, make up, and live in harmony while respecting each others' rights and the rule of law is absurd. Obama wants to stop the troop deaths and find a real solution to this situation. Ongoing occupation is not a solution. Also, in spite of the hype surrounding the "progress" made in Iraq, the violence there is still at the same level it was in 2003 and 2004. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,317025,00.html

He won't do that.The troops worked too hard in a place they should never have been, but there they are, If any victory is to be had, it would be Iraqi victory, we're just doing the work.

What victory would he be snatching? Certainly nothing in Iraq - Bush's Mess just gets worse and worse. But I agree that the US shouldn't pull out. You are responsible to stabilize the place as much as it was when you invaded it.
