What's the different between Power Animals and Totem Animals? And why can I only have 9 Animals?

By seaching on another site I discovered, that I could have up till 100 Totem Animals, how nice, when you like Animals. Now I only need to know the rest of my questions. ;)

Totem animals act as teachers. They help you develop or heal certain aspects of yourself. Power animals represent aspects or energies that you already possess, and that you can teach or develop in others. I view Totems as external, and Power Animals as internal. There is no limit as to how many you can have, but what I believe is important to know is that they come to you, you don't choose them.
