I would be outraged. Did this really happen???????
-
the only thing i would not do is be surprised!
-
Am I right there? Because then the answer is stand in front of the 12 year old. If I wasn't there, I'm not sure what my reaction is. I would want to wait for more information because I refuse to believe that police officers just pull a gun on a 12 year old without extenuating circumstances. If it happened, and it wasn't even remotely justified an obvious case of a person making a huge mistake, or committing a criminal act then let him burn at the stake.
-
there needs to be some justification. you pose the question as if the 12 year old had done nothing at all. If, out of the blue, for no reason, a police officer pointed his service weapon at my 12 year old who had been in my presence and control at all times, that police officer would cease to exist because i would put a round thru his skull in a heartbeat. I would rather be judged by 12, than have my 12 year old carried by 6.
-
did the 12 year old have a gun?
-
I would do nothing, i don't interfere with justice.
-
Too many variables to go jumping in front of anybody pointing a loaded gun. The only way I would involve myself is if the twelve year old were mine.
-
they would need a reason to pull a gun on a child.
-
I would be afraid to do something, because if the cop is crazy enough to want to use his weapon on a child he or she would not think of not killing me if I try to do something
-
That really happened,to my kid and some of his friends they got apprehended shoplifting gum or something of that nature security cams caught them cops were called the fat officer told them if they tried to run he would shoot them. when my son who was absolved of any wrong doing as he didn't know one of his friends had lifted shop and he came home and told me what happened I immediately got on the horn to our mayor who was all apologetic and sent a liaison officer to to us .

Cops in my town never act out without a cause or threat proposed to their senses! I would contact an attorney immediately on the issue. Let justice reveal the whole story before you go being all bias and stuff! I would be very ticked off as you probably are! You handled the situation well!
-
Most of the people here completely missed the most important point in this, or any similar scenario where a police officer draws his weapon: DO EXACTLY WHAT HE SAYS AND DO IT WHEN HE TELLS YOU! It doesn't matter WHAT the situation is when an officer draws his weapon! The point where discussion of ANY kind is an option has been passed at that point! Your ONLY reasonable action at this point in time is PRECISELY what the officer tells you to do. You may sort everything else out AFTERWARDS. I CANNOT stress this enough, ladies and gentlemen, how LITTLE your dignity, your opinion, your beef with the officer, your attitude, your feelings, your self-rightousness, or anything else matter at this point, because YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE HERE! Do what the man with the gun says and sort it all out later with your attorney.

I would take pictures. you have every right to photograph police in public settings. even if the officer is not in a public area, you can photograph him/her FROM a public area, and he/she can not do anything about it http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm
-
no real reason to pull a gun on a child, report it to your local paper and tv crews also, the officer needs more than a talking to,
-
I'd stand back and allow the trained law enforcement officers due what it is that they need to do to keep them, us, and all as safe as possible. They are the experts in these types of situations, not me, so I would go about knowing that they are there keeping us all safe.
