the purists say body position is important. really it isnt for the casual meditator. just a chair is sufficient. the thing is you want to stay awake and not drift into sleep. but then if you fall asleep that is not terrible either. a chair is sufficient for body posture. the yoga position with legs folded is okay for purists. its about your mental condition and keeping your eyes shut. and remembering your mantra. the chackras can be aligned when you sit in a chair or in the yoga position.
