Yeah, the guy at the cell phone place said that it would work anywhere. :)

It should work anywhere as long as you have a clear view of the sky and the device can find 3 satellites.

I have used my own phone's GPS without reception. Only problem I had was without reception if you are using a map software that doesnt store the maps on your phone but rather downloads them as needed, such as google maps. The gps works but the software may not depending on your program
