Not really, since it was a raccoon-skin ('coonskin) cap that he was reputed to wear. People are a lot more conscious about the needless killing of animals to suit a fashion these days.

Squirrel Hat??? Do you mean the raccon skin cap that he wore, with the tail attached? You can still buy replicas of that kind of hat for children in stores. Also hats very similar to that are worn in colder climates all the time. (type fur hat > images in your search box)

No. Too many animal rights activists. My Dad has a coon skin hat...I always found it creepy.
