The religious right has very little role these days in politics.The general public is tired of religion trying to infiltrate the government since it is written that state and religion must be separate entities.They do not have enough votes to sway the candidates.Some people on the right are starting to head to the left.

I don't think they would agree with your implication that their last choices have done damage to your country. People persist in their thinking and behaviour inpite of massive evidence that they are mistaken - I don't think that something as subjective as assessing a political regime's success or failure will have any effect on their decisions to get involved in the next round.
