  • Try talking with a therapist or counselor. Be open minded to the meds idea, I finally gave in and it's made the world of difference. Good luck. :)
  • well, u shud lie in the sun for a while everyday. its suposed to realease somthing and make u happy...it can work. Bottleing things up isnt good, and self medicating isnt good either...im proof of that. The sun trick doesnt work for me, but it did for a freind of mine, and meds dont really work for me either, but thats not to say u shouldnt try them. Express yourself somewhere in some way or anthoer can make u feel really good...like i write books and lyrics and poetry. if u go for literature, while im sure u end up writing depressing things, try to keep some bright ones...Spend time doing things you love to do at least once a week. once again, self medicating can be really bad...dont....seriously...selfmedicating=bad...
  • You need to let it out... easier said than done, i know. Councelling doesnt help everyone, so maybe write it all down and then you have released it, without sharing it.
  • Writing was the only way to get the thoughts out of my head.
  • Just be a little open-minded. I've been depressed since I was 8 years old. I never took any medications. Stay positive, go out a little more, meet some new people, and you'll be fine. Keep a blog or a diary to write your feelings in. Go to the mall, movies, or just go shopping. That always helps me when I feel depressed.
  • If your depression has lasted so long, have your pituitary gland checked out. It is responsible for ANY gland in your body that secretes hormone. It would be a good first step to get your hormone levels analyzed. Pituitary tumors present in many ways. Some mess up women's menstrual systems; others cause erectile dysfunction. Some cause rage, inexplicable growth, and thyroid problems. My BF had a pituitary tumor that manifested itself in block-rocking headaches. It was removed - no more headaches. Get an appointment with an endocrinologist. Try to get a CT scan, then an MRI (if you have insurance). Pituitary problems would be a good thing to rule out. And if it doesn't turn out to be pituitary related, please don't completely count out medication. That's what it's there for - it doesn't make you an addict; nor does it imply you can't handle your own life. SOMETHING is causing your depression. It's best to get a diagnosis before swearing off any treatment options. ((Good luck))
  • Why do you REFUSE to take meds? Might do you some good, eh? Go on, live a little (pardon the pun)--try some anti-depressants.
  • go in the middle of the woods/desert or someplace where you'll be alone for many miles and SCREAM YOUR HEAD OFF!!YELL IT OUT!!TELL THE WORLD WHAT YOU THINK IS WRONG!!get that feeling out of you any way you can.you feel better find some thing to be passionate about.you have something im sure we all do.best of luck
  • What about talking to a third party, a councillor for eg? If you work for a big company they provide should independant councilling which the employer never finds out about. Alternatively go to the doctors, I did and I advised how I was feeling but stressed how I did not want any medication. They sent me to a councillor. Its a way to find the stem of the problem, take you back & show you a way of dealing with the issues which made you like this. Your not alone and it does end. I remember it starting when I was 11 at primary school & had issues on & off until I was 25. I had councilling which for me was classed as Child Behavial Therapy which deals with childhood drama. In the end I did take tables just before this but I stopped after 2 months as it wasnt for me but I feel so much better now. There was a time when I couldnt even read someone elses problem but now I know im strong enough to deal with mine and others. You will get to this stage to but have to deal with what makes you feel this way. Im always on the other end of an email & this chat room is always here.
  • Sometimes it's simply neurochemicals. Re-think your choice to try meds.
