  • You may have installed the brake pads wrong. Ensure the brake caliper cylinder is fully retracted (requires a big c-clamp normally) before re-installing it. Also, ensure the pads are securely attached to the caliper. My guess is that the cylinder wasn't fully retracted so the pads are in constant contact with the rotor, causing the heat.
  • In addition to what geek said you may also want to check the parking brake lever on that side. They have a tendency to stick and cause the brake to drag. Look for the cable that runs to that wheel and find the lever it attaches to. Make sure it is fully released.
